CULTURE Enhancements
Hindu beliefs and folklores, including the epics, promoted significant chances to local art forms, enriching the Nusantara culture in arts and architecture. The evidence of architecture came from hundreds of ancient surviving Hindu temples, known as ‘Candi’, and other monuments, while Javanese art is portrayed and preserved in popular Wayang performances that help demonstrate different legends, like the Ramayana and Mahabharata, fables, moralistic depictions, and other stories. The Hindu temples of different areas are based on the ethnics of that particular area or region, because Hinduism is associated with the cultures of different regions. One of the most famous Candis are the Candi Prambanan, the largest Hindu site in Indonesia, built during the 9th century in Central Java. Another culture enhancement that Hinduism brought has been the dance dramas which are a common form of entertainment throughout the whole of Indonesia. Dance dramas also depict legends, stories, and fables many times honoring the various gods and the Supreme Being, Ida Sanghyang Widi Wasa.
